First, we are a family here. Your child becomes one of ours too. Due to our small class sizes, we are able to give students individualized attention tailored to meet their individual needs. At the heart of our education philosophy is a fundamental commitment to meet our students where they are and walk with them in academic, emotional, and spiritual growth throughout their time at SLS. We are able to accomplish this in large part due to the dedication of our wonderful teaching staff. Our teachers are life-long learners and are constantly seeking ways to develop in their own craft in order to better serve our students.
At SLS, we see our goal as two-fold: forming scholars and saints. We seek to make both academics and faith come alive for our students. Our STREAM curriculum (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) engages students in critical thinking by integrating learning across subject areas. Our teachers plan daily lessons with the use of technology and innovation in mind. Our classrooms are equipped with Smartboards and we enhance student learning through the use of one-to-one tools including Chromebooks and iPads. In addition, our Catholic faith guides everything we do, from attending weekly Mass as a school community, to treating one other with compassion, to the ways that we give back to our local community in service.
We are a school family devoted to a mission of nurturing our children academically, emotionally and spiritually. I look forward to partnering with you in this mission. God bless you, and know that our door is always open.
Not only do smaller class sizes afford more attention to each individual student, the smaller classes allow the students to develop better relationships with their fellow classmates and build community over the course of their time at SLS.
Our school provides a strong academic foundation centered in our STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) with the intention of preparing our students for the unique and exciting challenges of the 21st century.
Our faculty offers a variety of inclusive and innovative teaching strategies in the classroom, such as project-based learning, inquiry-based learning, and differentiation techniques designed to reach different types of learners.
We believe in forming well-rounded students which is why we provide a diverse offering of in-school and after-school clubs, sports and activities. Through these offerings, we seek to develop student interest in the arts, athletics, and world language. Students have an opportunity to to grow their individual, God-given gifts while working together and practicing teamwork.
Over half of our teachers hold Master’s degrees. Our faculty and staff have received teaching awards from the Barnes Foundation, the Foundation for Catholic Education’s Catholic Schools Hall of Fame and the Alliance for Catholic Education through the University of Notre Dame.
