SLS Begins Tech Fundraising Campaign


St. Laurentius School is excited to share that we’ve been working to set some exciting goals to improve and upgrade our technology! Over the next 5 years, we will embark on a plan to outfit our classrooms with iPads, and completely upgrade our wireless infrastructure. Our goal is to educate faculty and students alike on new learning apps and software.

This year, we have been soliciting estimates for vendors and learning platforms, comparing rates and funding options, and working directly with the Technology Committee of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to formulate our school’s goals.

This is where you come in! As members of our St. Laurentius community, we need your help to raise the seed funds required to start our technology upgrades. Today, we have launched an online technology fundraiser through “GoFundMe!” You can find this fundraiser link on our website at www.stlaurentius.org, through our Facebook page (facebook.com/SaintLaurentius) or through the direct link: www.gofundme.com/st-laurentius-school-tech-fund

Our initial fundraising goal of $5,000 will help us obtain in-service app and digital curriculum training for our faculty, and help us assess the best places in our school to have charging stations, wifi hubs, and more. This is the first step towards making St. Laurentius a true technology-integrated school, and we can’t do it without your support!

St. Laurentius School will host an open house for prospective and current families on Saturday, February 4th from 1-4pm.

Come to the Saint Laurentius School Hall and learn more about the school from currect parents.  Enjoy some refreshments and have some Q&A time.  Our principal, Mrs. McKnight, will give a brief talk and presentation at 1:45pm and will be there all day for questions or for talking.

Then tour the school and meet our fabulous teachers.  Student Council members and the 8th graders will be tour guides.  Each classroom will feature student work, and parents will have the chance to speak with teachers one on one.  This is a great opportunity to meet our school family and mingle with other parents. Please join us!

The Friends of Saint Laurentius School and the SLS Principal, Mrs. McKnight, would like to invite all parents, especially those with children in PreK3 and 4, Kindergarten, 1st Grade or with a new student(s) in school to join us for a wine & cheese welcome night.
Adult beverages, water, soda, small sandwiches and such will be served. Children are welcome. We will have a child-based art activity.
The night is free! The Friends of SLS want you to meet each other, to mingle and to have time to ask questions and learn more about Saint Laurentius School.

Bridge Foundation Scholarships for 2016-17


Our school has once again been selected to receive the Bridge Educational Foundation Scholarship for the 2016-2017 school year. The Bridge Foundation requires that all approved families fulfill 40 hours of community service for the school year. Any family who does not perform the requisite number of community service hours will not be eligible to receive scholarship assistance for the following school year. As you complete your volunteer hours, you will return the volunteer forms to school. We will then mail them to the Foundation. Volunteer hours can be accumulated throughout your community, church, school, etc.


To qualify for this scholarship, families of students must have an adjusted gross income of less than $91,620, with an additional $15,270 adjustment for each dependent.

Please fill out the Scholarship Application and return it to school with a copy of your 2015 Federal Income Tax Return (1040 form only). If a household did not file or cannot locate their most recent Federal Tax Return, the Foundation requires a letter written by the applicant, which must itemize all sources of income for every adult living in the household. This letter must be signed in front of a notary public. If you require this form, please contact the office.


Your cooperation in filling out this information is greatly appreciated since we have many deadlines in order to keep this wonderful grant.

Bridge Foundation Scholarship Application

The following supplies will be needed for September. You are asked to purchase them on your own at any store you choose. Anything not listed will be given out in school. Save money-only buy what is on the list. All students will need clear contact paper for covering their workbooks. This will be done at home. Each student must bring a box of tissues and a roll of paper towels the first day of school. In January we will be requesting these items again.

5th Annual St. LauRUNtius 5K

The 5th Annual St. LauRUNtius 5K was a big success, despite the rain!  On April 23rd, our students, families, friends, and neighbors came together to enjoy the event which has become a new Fishtown tradition. This was a very competitive race this year.  To see the full results, please visit our website fishtown5k.org.  Our annual block party kicked off as soon as the runners crossed the finish line.  We did not let the rain dampen the festivities!  Almost everyone stayed to enjoy the beer donated by Yards Brewing Company and delicious Polish food from Mom Mom’s Polish food truck.

We are especially proud of our student running club, who worked hard to train for the race.  Congrats to all our student runners!

Spirit Newspapers did a fantastic job covering the event.

A big thank you to all our sponsors, to the Fishtown Beer Runners for making our race go as smoothly as possible, and to all the runners and friends who came out to share this fun day with us.
