The 50th day of the school year proved the perfect inspiration for a 50's themed Sock-Hop. Grades PreK-3, PreK-4 and Kindergarten - along with their teachers, class aides and upper-class'buddies' - turned the clock back to the 1950's to celebrate this scholastic milestone with costumes, decorations, music & dancing, tasty treats and some all-around wholesome fun. The weather may have been gray and rainy but spirits were bright and inspired at the October Dreaming and Visioning Session for the St. Laurentius Catholic School of the Arts & Sciences.
Often considered the definitive Report Card on our Nation's Schools, the NAEP (National Assessment of Education Progress) is the only assessment that measures what U.S. students know and can do in various subjects across the nation, states, and in some urban districts. The NAEP has provided important information about how students are performing academically since 1969. While most of the nation is facing tough questions on assessment scores in decline for public schools, Catholic school scores continue to trend higher.
